With the massive cellular outage headlining today's news, remember that AES's technology creates private mesh networks that have limited to no reliance on public infrastructure - meaning with an AES network, your critical alarm communications will always get through. https://lnkd.in/dTtdxvtC

Lessons learned in today's wireless outage. Emergency communications can and will be impacted by wireless network outages and congestion.Multi-modal communications reduces the impact felt by being reliant to just SMS and cellular voice calls. A robust EMNS system leverages all of the tools available to the Emergency Manager when needed most. Encourage subscribers to submit as many communication modes as possible. *On a side note: turning your phone off, then on, won't fix an outage (yes, I saw messages sent out to people telling them to do just that...) Oh the flashbacks I had of my IT dept telling me back in the day "remove the battery, then reinstall it" 🤦♂️ #publicsafety #emergencycommunications #Everbridge #PublicWarninghttps://lnkd.in/e7fgcFAy

Widespread AT&T Network Outage Disrupts Services Across the U.S.: AT&T customers across the United States experienced significant network outages, impacting their ability to make calls, send texts, and access the internet. Over 64,000 outages were reported on DownDetector, although actual numbers might be higher. The issue, acknowledged by AT&T without a disclosed cause, also affected 911 access in some regions, prompting local governments to advise on alternative emergency contact methods. While Verizon and T-Mobile customers experienced minor disruptions, both companies confirmed their networks were operating normally, attributing issues to AT&T’s outage. Efforts to restore service are ongoing, with customers urged to use Wi-Fi calling in the meantime. #Catastrophe #Technology #RiskManagement #Claims #Insurance

It doesn't matter so much which carrier it is- it matters what you have in place to not be left without coverage. Cellular failover and carrier redundancy is business and emergency service critical. Cradlepoint, part of Ericsson has dual sim and dual modem options for nearly any situation, and the team at RCN Technologies can set your units up to provide a level of insurance for your network. If you are not prepared for this situation, let's have a quick conversation about what can be done. #lte #5g #cellularconnectivity #att #verizon #tmobile #uscellular #tmobileforbusiness #verizonbusiness #businesscontinuity #security #redundancy

We won't know the reason for this outage for some time. Verizon and AT&T might never tell us. The early indication is that the disruption was not due to nefarious conduct. In either case, the episode once again highlights the need for companies to have a crisis communications plan that is genuine, meaningful and effective in managing stakeholder expectations. The Bean Review, which examined the unprecedented Optus outage that affected 10 million customers last November, has finalized its report and made18 recommendations. The key points are:Triple-0 System Enhancement: The establishment of a new body to ensure the triple-0 system is functioning effectively.Australians should be able to contact triple-0 at all times, and this recommendation aims to prevent disruptions like those experienced during the Optus outage.Real-Time Network Information Sharing: Telcos will beforced to share real-time network information during outages. This step is crucial for efficient emergency response and coordination.Improved Communication: The Bean review found that Optus’s communication during the outage was inadequate. The report calls for a complete overhaul in what telcos are required to tell emergency services and authorities in similar situations.Other Recommendations: The report also suggests obligating telcos to shut down their towers during outages (allowing triple-0 calls to be carried by other networks), introducing timely post-mortems on major outages, and reviewing legislation and regulation related to triple-0.Read the full report here:https://lnkd.in/daY4BZwg

The government ordered an investigation into last year's Optus outage. Now its findings are in abc.net.au

https://lnkd.in/e7WWfzHUhttps://lnkd.in/eG6VWDjeAbout AT&T outage, one important note that many news didn’t mention. Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) continue to be delivered across the AT&T wireless networks during outage. Despite Individual handset doesn’t have data service nor can make voice call, the handset is still able to receive WEA message if it locates within affected area. This is because wireless carriers implemented Short Message Service Cell Broadcast (SMS-CB)technology for Emergency Alert Notifications. Thus. WEA is handle differently comparing to voice and data traffic.

An FCC report released yesterday has revealed that a misconfigured “network element” on the Mobility network caused a nationwide service outage on February 22. The outage, which lasted several hours, affected both users and AT&T commercial customers. According to the report, the misconfiguration occurred because the network element was implemented without proper review.#FirstNet #ATT #Mobile #Broadband #PublicSafety #FirstResponders #CriticalCommunications #Network
